Beginners are always welcome. In fact, you're invited to attend your first lesson free of charge!
Attending your first lesson
General training is from 6:30pm to 8:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our focus is Karate training - not games - so we are unfortunately unable to cater for children under the age of 10.
We're located at the Batemans Bay Surf Life Saving Club, 560 George Bass Drive, Malua Bay NSW 2536. Please enter via the beach-side door. The door will be locked, but please knock at the window and your Instructor will let you in. Although the area is relatively safe, children are requested to wait inside the Surf Club until their parents arrive to collect them after class.
If you don't have a Karate Gi (uniform), please wear comfortable clothing (t-shirt and shorts, or a track suit). Please remember to bring a water bottle to every lesson.
Before you begin training, you will be required to complete the SKIA Informed Consent and Participation Commitment Form. For your safety, our instructors are accredited Sports Coaches and have current First Aid certificates and Working with Children accreditations.
Continuing training
After your first (free) lesson, our training fees are $10 per lesson. We are a non-profit organisation, so your fees go towards Dojo expenses such as venue hire and event subsidy.
Payment is required prior to training, via cash, card (EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Apple Pay, Google Pay), or direct deposit. If using direct deposit, please be sure to include your name in the transaction details.

Joining SKIA
Should you decide to become a member of our national association, you will need to complete the SKIA Application for Membership Form. The SKIA membership fee ($85 for under 18's, and $90 for 18 years and above) includes joining fee, annual fee, and compulsory sports insurance. Kyu gradings (belt promotions) can be attempted up to twice annually (grading fees are $35 for under 18's, and $45 for 18 years and above, including a new belt). Karate Gis (uniforms) can be purchased from your instructor for $50.
Members are invited to subscribe to our closed Facebook Group. This is where Dojo notices will be posted, for example in relation to upcoming events and any class cancellations.
